Children with mental disturbances, developmental disorders or defects
4. Target community / beneficiaries challenges:
- Very high rate of students with learning difficulties
- Parents with children under 6 years old in Duc Linh district, Binh Thuan province lack knowledge in identifying and early detecting differences of children in the development process, no child support skills after medical intervention. Plus, they cannot access timely detection and intervention support services; and there is no awareness of the importance of early intervention.
- Children reaching primary school age then have problems integrating.
- In addition, there are many cases outside the community that the project has not had the opportunity to detect.
1. Initiative proposal:
+ Main activities:
- Communication to improve knowledge for the community.
- Capacity building for project staff and related partners.
- Child intervention at the center.
2. Long - term goals:
- Children with developmental disorders including hearing impairment, autism spectrum disorder, language disorder and learning difficulties under 6 years old in kindergartens in Duc Linh district, Binh Thuan province are supported with community-based integration.
3: Short - term goals:
- Community includes teachers, parents, partners, staff, collaborators with increased capacity in knowledge and skills to detect and intervene when children show signs of developlmental delay.
- Children participating in learning at centers and the community receive timely intervention to increase their ability to integrate.
4. Expectation outcomes/changes:
- Teachers have the knowledge and knowledge to detect children with developmental disorders at school.
- Communication materials about early detection are printed and disseminated at the school.
- In cases where parents participate in communication sessions with children having difficulty, contact the center to receive counseling and intervention.
- Parents with children at the center have improved skills and experience in teaching their children.
- The children after intervention improve their behavior, language, communication and learning.
- Center staff are qualified to intervene and support the program replication plan for the project areas.
- The collaborator has sufficient knowledge and capacity to intervene in children with developmental disorders in the community.
- Partners have enough knowledge and skills to participate in the program of detection, intervention and replication of the model to support children with disorders to develop into the community smoothly.
