- Time: 01/03/2017 - 01/05/2017

3. Target community / beneficiaries :
Households at 44, 45, Quarter 6, Ward 15, Go Vap District
4. Target communities / beneficiaries challenges:
The majority of households have never been flooded or blocked due to using spontaneous culverts/ditches. In case of trouble, households collect money together to hire someone to dredge sewers. Residents are keen to build a planned sewer system but there are some difficulties such as lack of motivation as an organization, a project leader and money. The sewer system requires too much funding, so it is difficult for people to fulfill their wishes.
There is a lack of drains, so some families have directly discharged wastewater from the toilets to the spontaneous sewers/ditches, affecting the surrounding environment such as causing odors, stagnant water, flooding, creating conditions for microorganisms to grow. This seriously affects the health of households.
Residents added that the lack of drains is highly unpleasant, with some neighbors discharging water from car washing, clothes and floors directly onto the street. This creates pools of stangnant water and affects travel and activities of people surrounding.

1. Initiative proposal:
Quarter 6 is one of 8 neighborhoods of Ward 15, Go Vap District, City. Ho Chi Minh. Although it is an urban area, it is suburban compared to the city center (Ho Chi Minh City) and still contains active agriculture. In Quarter 6, most of the residential groups have completed drainage sewers, but only two groups 44 and 45 have no drainage system. Therefore, people here have to build spontaneous secondary sewers or back-house ditches. The spontaneous formation of secondary sewers was built before 1954. Since then, people in groups 44, 45 still have to use this degraded spontaneous secondary sewer.
Due to the spontaneous nature and use over the years, the sewer condition has been severely degraded, causing frequent sewage blockages. Many households have to overcome this situation simple methods such as dredging sewers, regularly picking up garbage to make the sewer clear. This is a short-term and unsustainable solution. The lack of a complete drainage sewer seriously affects the daily life of the people and the surrounding environment. Since then, it will have a significant impact on their health and the environment in the long run
When the sewer construction project is implemented, not only are 35 households directly benefiting from residential groups 44 and 45, but also households belonging to population group 46, people outside of the three groups. residents but often have to work around these 3 groups and this is the way they often move to churches, markets ... all indirectly benefit from this project.
Therefore, it is urgent to build a complete water supply and drainage system to ensure the long and sustainable life of the people.
2: Long-term goals:
Improving the daily life and health of the people.
Improve relationships between neighbors.
3. Short - term goals:
Complete the drainage system so that there are no clogged drains, bad odors, and water stagnation.
4. Expectation outcomes/changes:
1. After 2 months, 35 households of residential groups 44, 45, quarter 6, ward 15, Go Vap district are allowed to use the complete drainage system.
2. After 2 months, this area no longer has sewer congestion, bad smell, stagnant water.
